

Fitness Fact Friday: Whey is the way!!
Trainers need to be able to explain to their clients the essentials of proper nutrition. One key element in this regard is protein consumption- how much? What type? Etc. Arguably, one of the best proteins to consume is whey or more specifically, whey protein isolate. Keep these 2 things in mind about whey:
1- It is very relatively high in the Branch Chain Amino Acids (Valine, Leucine, Isoleucine) – A good thing!!!
2- It is insulinotropic- induces insulin secretion with, or without, concurrent ingestion of carbohydrates. Confused? Don’t be, this can be a very good thing, for instance, immediately following a strength training workout.
